St. Andrew’s First Graders Learn About Cats and Kittens!

St. Andrew’s First Graders

Over the course of two days (May 14 and 16), 40 first-grade students from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School of Saratoga visited us at Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA) to learn about cats and kittens.

The students and their chaperones learned about the role of the shelter in the greater community and received instruction in cat body language and safe ways to approach cats in preparation for meeting the felines. The visitors then alternated their time between making cat toys, which they donated to SVACA) and socializing six kittens on leave from their foster home. Kids and kittens had a great time getting acquainted and engaging in play sessions (as did the adults!).

Sessions typically take place at Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA) in Santa Clara the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Spots are limited and please make sure to check the available cats and kittens before visiting the shelter.
