Ms. Kogan’s fifth-grade art students at Hillview Middle School in Menlo Park are engaged in a new variation of Pet Painters with an emphasis on factory farm animals and farm animals safe in sanctuaries. The students’ animal portraits, when completed, will highlight those animals safe at our sanctuary partner Jasper Ridge Farm in Portola Valley. As part of our program, the students were visited by Isabelle Cnudde of Clorofil, another partner organization—a Los Altos-based sanctuary for chickens (hens) and turkeys and a dog rescued from a South Korean meat farm. Isabelle’s discussions centered around conditions in factory farms and their effects on the animals housed there.
